i am 52 and my Doctor has been buggin me to get a colonoscopy done. I had it done a few weeks ago and I wondered what effect NCS would have when coupled with anesthesia. The good news is that I had no discomfort at all during the procedure, in fact when I awoke I didn't even know it was finished. It was as if a switch had turned me off instantaneously and now I was back on. I remembered nothing which is good, but i had to stay awhile because my blood pressure was low and they could let me leave until it was high enough. I didn't know that anesthesia makes you blood pressure dip, but appreanetly it does. I was just wondering if anyone else had something similar happen. Other than that, I am doing well!

I'm glad you went through that procedure well. I don't have any effects from anesthesia. I guess I wake up slowly and repeat the same words over and over, without remembering that I just said that. But I think that is normal. I imagine the blood pressure medicine I take has helped keep my pressure from getting too low.
I know that I don't like to have the tube going down my throat. I had that once with a colonoscopy and I had a panic attack. I woke up feeling fine but was never so happy to be put to sleep. I don't like things in my mouth that make me feel like I won't be able to breath. Next time, my doctor said he'd give me medicine to relax me before he knocks me out. LOL.

yeah that might be good, something to make me less nervous. Yes I hate anything in my mouth, it also makes me feel like I can't breathe. Hopefully it will be several years before I have to do it again.

You hit the nail on the head...anything that makes me feel like I'm not going to be able to breathe, sends me into a panic attack.
YES! Thank heavens we don't have to do those procedures but every few years or so.

I always give a provider heads up about my history of syncope.

Lucky that nothing has ever happened to me during a procedure.

I think it is a good idea to give a provider heads up just in case some thing happens they are looking out for it.
