papertrucker
Yesterday while picking up my son at the after school daycare this boy no older the 6 cought the fact that I was on crutches and was missing a leg well as he went through all the people in the room steadly making his way toward me as he got closer to me intently staring at my stump well I raised it so he could get a real good look at it he stares at the stump and at my face without saying a word suddenly he reaches up and ever so gently cups the end and say "you don't have a leg where is it and when are you doing to get it back "I told him that it got sick and they had to take it and that soon I was going to get a fake on and be able to walk just like him.He looked intently at me and the stump and said ok.Later that same day while picking my son up from the skating rink this 12to 14 year old girl came up to me with a real worryed look on her face asking me if there was anything that I needed as if i had just lost my leg at the rink I told her that I was ok and that soon I would have a prosthetic leg and that I was going to try skating with it she smiled but truly concerned although this stuff mite not be funny it was heart warming for me
