I just quit taking Wakix, it was knocking me out cold for hours and then when I woke up I felt like I was hit by a Mack truck. That being said, most N meds do the opposite for me, they usually put me to sleep.

I have heard good things about it though from several PWN on Facebook. I don't know about cost, I'm on Medicare and Medicaid so I don't have to pay.

If you do decide to go on it you will find out that you can't get it from your local pharmacy. There are only a few specialty pharmacies that dispense it. If you happen to get Accredo pharmacy beware. I had one heck of a time getting anyone that knew anything. I did start taking it right after the FDA approved it and the manufacturer believes it was because they weren't expecting such a response. Duh, half the people with N were probably trying to get on it. LOL

If you decide to try it I hope it works for you. If it doesn't there is another new N med it's called Sunosi. I'm going to start taking that as soon as the pharmacy gets it in.

Kimmerhawk, I’m so sorry to hear Waxik didn’t work for you. Xyrem, made me feel the way you did on the Waxik along with developing an allergic reaction to it.
Sadly, as we all know there’s no one size fits all with these Meds. I’m just sincerely sorry it didn’t work for you.
Supersleep, Its worked for me and has changed my life. Like Kimmerhawk mentioned there’s always Sunosi too.

Ok....my doc has never mentioned Sunosi. Can you provide more info about that one? It appears to have been on the market longer so I am assuming a slightly easier access (Waxik---egad!) and hopefully lower price as I am shelling out $$ (most covered with insurance but only 80% which adds up I assure you...)
And Supersleep is....another option?
SOrry to be so ignorant. My doc is actually a Pulmonary Care SPecialist (also trained on sleep disorders) I think he likely has 5% or less narcoleptic patients....
