Narcolepsy Support Group
A sleep disorder (somnipathy) is a disorder in the sleep patterns of a person or animal. Some sleep disorders can interfere with mental and emotional function. If you are having trouble falling asleep or having some other kind of sleep disturbance, this group is for you.
Hi, I just had an overnight PSG done on wednesday night followed by an MSLT the following day. The concultant I attended who sent me for the tests feels I have all the symptoms of narcolepsy (inncluding mild cataplexy-my knees buckle slightly when I find something funny but I've never fallen). But I am so anxious waiting on results now. I had adequate sleep during the overnight psg, which allowed them to go ahead with the mslt but I'm worried that I didn't sleep during the 4 mslt naps. It's so hard when there is someone in the room at the end of the bed and you feel like you've a ticking clock to sleep within the next 20 minutes every 2 hours. (at home sleeping within 20 mins would never be a problem). I'm so nervous that I didn't sleep and that it will just seem like this is all in my head and I have to just put up with the extreme daytime exhaustion I have (and the crazy dreams, knee buckling etc etc). I'm just wondering if anyone who has been dignosed with narcolepsy really felt like they didn't sleep properly during the mslt. Maybe I just have to accept that it will come back negative and maybe I'm just a bad sleeper. I should be happy if it comes back negative but on the other hand a also want a real reaon why I have these symptoms. Thanks in advance for any support.
