Narcolepsy Support Group
A sleep disorder (somnipathy) is a disorder in the sleep patterns of a person or animal. Some sleep disorders can interfere with mental and emotional function. If you are having trouble falling asleep or having some other kind of sleep disturbance, this group is for you.
As far as coping, I am 47 and my whole life has been one great big fog whether I'm sleeping or awake. I'm never suprised to find my wallet in the refrigerater. Heck, I remember one day last month I put my work ID and drivers licence in a place (thought to myself I shouldn't put it there because I'll never find it) Apparently I didn't move it. I still haven't found it. I figure that me and the driver's licence place will become buddies soon, as many times as I had to get another one issued.
I figure that even with all of the problems that I have with the narcolepsy, there is someone else out there that has it a whole lot worse than I do. That's what keeps me sane. If I am sane.
I "lost" my cell phone Thursday night. So I Emailed my mom to call. Gee maybe I'll find it. For what seemed like fragments of an hour, I look everywhere (it ain't ringing) and I can't find it. Now I'm really making a mess rifling through everything on my already mess of a desk with papers...But I found the TV remote that I didn't know was missing.... So I do the laundry...It occurs to me after the washer has about 1 minute worth of water in it and my jeans are in there where I clip my phone often.... oh crap! Hot dog! I only clip it on the belt though) I didn't wash the belt. Still couldn't find my phone in the WASHER! That's good. Way later, next morning 5:30 I find the phone in my car. (if I remember this right?!). It slid off the sumthinerother and onto the floor. I clip it onto my belt that I didn't wash and the jeans that I did wash. 10:00 Phone vibrates. I answer and wonder who's calling to bother me at work. I can't find my glasses fast enough to read the caller. "Oh - you found your phone" . Thanks mom. Forgot I lost it.
I hope you enjoy my humor cuz' it's fun for me to write. We should make a movie about all of our experiences and it would probably be a blockbuster. I'm laughing with all of you! Keep it coming. Gotta go, It's Nap time.
Milk in the sink, huh?
The problem is I would spill anything I tried to pour in my sleep. I know this, because I spill everything I try to pour when I'm "awake!"
I haven't done any sleep walking since I was maybe 10 or 11, but my mother used to have a gate at the top of the stairs because she was afraid I'd just wander my butt down the stairs and out the door.
I never did grow out of sleep talking, however. My family tells of some interesting conversations I don't remember. And my boyfriend and I both do it, so one of us always has a funny to tell the other in the morning.
Sleeping in jammies is a good idea, but unfortunately, taking them off in my sleep is also something I never grew out of. LOL. If I'm hot, I take care of it, whether I know it or not!
I'm here and you're there.
I'm there but you're not here.
If I'm not there and you're not here.
Then... we're not "All There".
I totally understand how that can be scary, especially living alone. I finally got scared that I would overdose on medication or something in my sleep so I locked it all up. Not that I couldn't find the key in my sleep but it's at least a barrier. And I also lock my bedroom door at night too. And make sure I have water by the bed every night before I go to sleep. Just try to make sure dangerous things are put up good and things you may want/desire are handy... but... uh... leave the 2lb bag of chocolate at your friend's house or at work!
