Myofascial Pain Syndrome Support Group
Myofascial Pain Syndrome (or MPS) is a term used to describe one of the conditions characterized by chronic pain. It is associated with and caused by "trigger points" (TrPs), sensitive and painful areas between the muscle and fascia. The symptoms can range from referred pain through myofascial trigger points to specific pains in other areas of the body. It may be related...

Welcome to our group, quiet as it is. At times the group bubbles with the support, energy and support of lots of people and sometimes it's much calmer as people focus on other 'stuff' or find support elsewhere.
We've had so many athletes end up with myofascial problems, from the moderate to the severe and the common theme is the lack of understanding by 'civilians' as I call them of how much effort it takes to just 'be', let alone contemplate various activities.
Most of the time we can deal with these civilians and their views and comments, especially as most are well meaning, but there's that few that you just know think you're either making it up or making it seem worse than it is. Sometimes you just have to have a good old rant and rage, depending on the circumstances, and this group is usually a very good supportive place to vent as much emotion as you need to. It's amazing the power of a private rant.
I know that a lot of the people from this group 'hopped over' to the facebook group so you might want to try searching there for a 'myofascial pain syndrome support group'. Hopefully you'll find a much more active group and find that connection and support you're seeking.
In the meantime feel free to roam our posts, reading experiences, information, resources, all that sort of stuff; but also see the patterns of pain and dysfunction and read where others have needed to just 'vent' in a safe space.
There are, I think, 4 good posts for 'newbies' that probably aren't too far back, as we tend to 'bump' them up every now and then. I might go back and find them and reread later - it's quite useful to 'review and compare', sort of a 'status review' of what I'm doing and what I might be avoiding, etc etc.
Good luck Karin, and I'd definitely recommend finding the Facebook group which is, fingers crossed, more active.
I would be glad to chat, as this really takes a toll on your life, social interactions, family and friends whom don't quit understand.

I would be happy to be your pen pal if you'd like. That goes for anyone and everyone on this forum. Disregard my username; that was the idea of a more lost, myofascial brain. I'm still trying to find myself.
Thanks, Karin
