I also find frequently that I can't focus on hobbies, just obsess over my pain and what happened. And this is actually a good way of finding resolution with emotionally difficult events and depression; it's called the problem solving method and is easily found on a quick internet search.
I find volunteering really makes me feel good. I use a wheelchair to get around. That way I can still help despite my immobility.
