Keep updating and lett us know how its going.
My chiro believes everything is centered around my si joint. So, that is the area he focuses on. He believes that it being out of alignment is what creates tension in the psoas. Seems to work. I don't have that pain around my middle anymore.
Do you not hate that feeling of your hip out of it's joint?!? I was like that for 3 years, stumping around on hiking trails, running a farmers market, up and down the aisles all day. Gee, wonder why it's been a year and I'm still at this healing stage? lol
Love to hear more about any exercises he's given you. And really loving hearing such success as you've had.
I will ask my PT and chiropractor today about this theory. I guess some of you could try it too (those with leg and hip pain). I don't think it could hurt anything?????
Your comment about still being in pain is really interesting. This condition we have is weird (that's a technical term, lol) and I often think pain is the wrong indicator of progress or severity. If you feel you're making progress even with high pain then that is more important than the pain, and when you feel progress you're more likely to continue and hopefully see further progress.
so I can lie on my bed and do it, which makes it more likely I wiill do it. The way he told me to do the exercises is to push out one knee five times and then the other one, ten times total. I asked if I could spread the exercise out over the day to reap the results more, and he said yes. It does not seem to matter which leg you do first. I have different results on each. Doing the right one causes more of that 'feel good' feeling and the left one gets more fatigued.
The chiropractor mumbled that I might be right about aligning the sacrum with the exercise. The PT is more focused on the problems with my hip flexors caused by weak gluteus medius muscles--that's another exercise he has me do.
I think that the band around my knees being stretchy was a bad idea. I need what I push against to stay put. So when I feel up to trying it again I will use a belt from my closet to see if that works better.
This condition is SO frustrating.
Keep trying with it, I think you're right in that it just needs a bit of modification for you, I'm sure you'll find how to do it without getting that sharp spike in pain. I might give it a go later :-)
