It is associated with and caused by "trigger points" (TrPs), sensitive and painful areas between the muscle and fascia. The symptoms can range from referred pain through myofascial trigger points to specific pains in other areas of the body. It may be related...

Have you ever checked to see if you have active trigger points??
I'm so stiff when I get up in the morning that I walk to the bathroom like a penguin - can't bend anything including my feet and ankles.
I really can't get up and get going like I used to. I guess I look a little like a penguin too :). I take it really slow in the mornings now. I'm usually moving like a "normal" person after an hour and a cup of coffee.
I agree that it is definitely FMS, but you could also have MPS as they seem to go together in a lot of FMS sufferers. I have both and it is definitely Not fun! Both cause pain but for different reasons. All I can say is Ouch!
