Myofascial Pain Syndrome (or MPS) is a term used to describe one of the conditions characterized by chronic pain. There's not a huge amount of information about how it works or what they do, the best thing is the video you posted which tells us it's our old friend the Graston Technique www.grastontechnique.com but with lots of 'after-care' of muscles, mobility and exercises. There website www.faktr.com is rather light on reall information rather than advertising fluff, as you found looking it up on youtube!
Lots of people have found Graston helpful, where they use their specially designed (and available for you to buy at lots of $$$) tools and provide lots of training.
So from all of that it certainly looks worth a try, if you can stand the pain and probable flare up which are, for some treatments, worth it. You'd need to really trust your therapist, that they really *get* how complex and hypersensitive you are; how about negotiating to start with somewhere small on your body that's less likely to set off the flare up from hell. For starters, if they don't even agree to something like that I personally wouldn't go any further.
In the end only you can decide whether it's worth the risks to try it. If you do...let me know how it goes :)
