Myofascial Pain Syndrome Support Group
Myofascial Pain Syndrome (or MPS) is a term used to describe one of the conditions characterized by chronic pain. It is associated with and caused by "trigger points" (TrPs), sensitive and painful areas between the muscle and fascia. The symptoms can range from referred pain through myofascial trigger points to specific pains in other areas of the body. It may be related...
Previously, I had a burning sensation that ran down my hamstrings. It turned out, mine was due to trigger points which pressed on the sciatic nerves in my legs and caused pseudo-sciatica,
I am wondering if perhaps you have trigger points somewhere along your arms and or shoulder muscles that are causing your pain? I know Iggy, another member, had issues with burning arms. Maybe she can comment here, too.
However, most people have the odd trigger point or two not to mention the close connection between fibromyalgia and myofascial pain syndrome (I started with mps and added the fibro a couple of years ago).
There are about 13 'perfect spots' of trigger points that cause the vast majority of mps pain and misery - that would be my suggestion of where to look at. I suspect you'll find trigger points responsible for the burning feeling too. It's an 'e-book' www.saveyourself.ca (you can get just the mps book to minimise information overload).
Another excellent book is "Healing Through Trigger Point Therapy: A Guide to Fibromyalgia, Myofascial Pain and Dysfunction by Devin J. Starlanyl, John Sharkey and Amanda Williams (30 Aug 2013)"
Crucially, both books discuss the implications of fibromyalgia as well as it's connections with mps.
And boy am I paying for it now :( lots of muscle spasms - very painful muscle spasms etc.
Maybe the burning is a desperate cry of warning from your muscles, of them shouting 'too much, much too much, please move, we can't hold this position anymore, major pain alert, danger, danger' or something similar!
