Myelodysplasia Support Group
The myelodysplastic syndromes (formerly known as "preleukemia") are a diverse collection of haematological conditions united by ineffective production of blood cells and varying risks of transformation to acute myelogenous leukemia. Anemia requiring chronic blood transfusion is frequently present. Although not a true malignant neoplasm, MDS is nevertheless classified...
Yup, you enjoy traveling, & have all those children scattered around the globe, so get crackin'. (We know what you were doing in the good ol' days, ha!)
Mike, congrats on the new granddaughter.
Rachael, tell me more about (1) the fainting/dizzy spells, and (2) the very serious wake-up call you referred to.
Gayle & Lou, I trust your pup survived your absence in fine shape?
In my earlier posting I was thoughtless and did not comment on the dizzy spells. I get these too, but I have high, not low blood pressure. Spoken to my Doctor, and the Haemo, but nobody seems unduly perturbed. I've put it down to having too much poor quality blood, as nobody seems to have the slightest idea. If you get a positive opinion, would like to hear it. Please write.
Chris
And so glad you're back Chris, and posting in full force!
Thanks everyone for your encouragement to stay positive. And guess what! My Doc has found an un-related bone-marrow match for me...
So this is the way my treatment is heading. And I feel so relieved that I can start to plan my future. I visit the transplant unit in a few weeks, and will go from there.
Just want to add too that the reason for this course of treatment so soon is that I have secondary MDS - I am 34 years old and otherwise healthy - I have had lots of treatment in the past for Aplastic Anemia, so don't qualify for clinical trials. So bring on my new life!
So glad I have you to share my news with. Talk again soon. I think I can feel a poem coming on... Take care all.

Chris - Lou and I were really happy to see your post...but geeze...three in one day? Just once a day will keep us happy. Sure glad you're feeling better but skip a meal an be sure to post daily. You worried us half to death...and considering your "determination" I'm sure you don't want to drive us in that direction.
Mikeyti - - congrats on the new grandaughter!
Rachael - hopefully the dizzy spells are subsiding. good luck with those!
Birdmom - Wow, it's good to have Chris back again - yes?
Aloha
Gayle & Lou
Maybe I should call myself ol'indestructable, but I do not want to tempt providence, so will just stick with ol' determined. Thanks for all your welcome back messages, and thoughts.
Chris.
Just to add to the comments on diizziness, I've had it for several years and have always assumed it was because of the lower blood pressure from meds from the heart attack. It seems a bit more noticeable now or more often in arriving but other than staggering around parking lots or up and down hallways like I'd had a few I always get through it.
We went shopping most of the day today and by 4 i was pretty much out of juice. Looking a bit anemic. Another week and I get my tank refilled then off the the grandbabies LOL.
Have a great week all
Mike
Thank you for listening to me, everyone! Even if I don't acknowledge all of your news, I do read it. There is just a lot of things going on in my life. And I so very much appreciate you being there to talk to about this medical stuff. It helps, when everything is quite overwhelming.
Bless you all.... heaps and heaps.

P.S. I am waiting for a phone call from the hospital for a visit to the transplant unit in the next few weeks, and discuss the procedure further. So once again I'm off to make that L O N G list of questions for the Doc...
At present you are living in the back of beyond in Victorian Cow Country. I know Brisbane and it is a beautiful place. At times of great stress, we all need to be somewhere where we feel at ease and at home, and if that is the way you think of Brisbane, Brisbane as where you should go.
Goog luck!
Love
Chris.
Iam alive!
Chris
I am glad!!
Wouldn't be the same without you Chris. Keep fighting, you are the captain of this leaky boat!
Ally
All well today. Am waiting for the written details of a possible drug trail, in Brighton, East Sussex, 20m miles from home!
Will keep you posted but am not likely to make a quick or rash decision.
Love to all
Chris

Sunny day today. WE have been promised 2 weeks of summer, but you can never believe the weather forecasters, they are 99% wrong.
Chris.
