Hi b... thank you so much for your thoughts and concerns! We are buried at my house in Boston, but have power. The winds were not bad at all, but we do have some serious drifting. The street next to our house is impassable, and the street in front is plowed but treacherous. Most people in my neighborhood are just helping one another dig out and staying put. I am snuggled down with my duvet!!! I hope others here weathered the storm okay, too!!

I have seen the blizzard on TV but I cannot comprehend the magnitude or what it is like to be snowed under as it is so hot here in Australia and there are still fires raging in our ski areas -80,000 hectares

We are doing well in Western Ma. ''only'' 18 inches. We are out in the country, so roads are a little rough!! Didn't lose power! Very windy, but beautiful!!!!

I hope everyone affected by the extreme weather in the US is safe and sound. We have had widespread heatwaves, bush fires and flooding here in Aus! It's just so crazy to contemplate what you are experiencing over there right now in comparison!

I echo Lorraine's comments. I can't imagine what it must be like for those of you in the affected areas. I have only seen snow once where I had to travel to our snow fields several hours away.

It is truly a winter wonderland here from what I can see from my snug vantage point. We seem to have between two and three feet of snow where I live. I wish we could share some with you Aussies! Please be safe down under!!! XOXOXO

Here in the Minnesota and Wisconsin are, a big storm is supposed to move in tonight and tomorrow too.
The difference is that a foot or two of snow in the upper midwest is really not a big deal--just as temperatures of 30 below zero F can happen any winter. It is all in what you prepare for!
Up here we are only a month away from tapping the maple trees and starting our spring melt. Maple season starts with winter weather and ends with the very earliest spring flowers blooming. Last year everything was a month earlier than normal. My photo is of me tapping a maple tree.

Russ, I'm not sure how an ancient city like Boston can plan adequately to have two to three feet of snow dumped on it in one fell swoop. In many cases, there is simply no place to put all of that snow so people can move. When I lived in Northern Vermont, there was plenty of wide open space for snow removal and it was no big deal.

Tapping Maple trees sounds like a wonderful time!!!

Here in Worcester, MA, we ended up with 28" of snow. Luckily, we didn't lose power, but we're still digging out. Schools were canceled again today due to the impassable roads.

This morning, it's raining, so the roads will be freezing! These are the days I'm glad I work from home!
