Sugar may not be the worst part. Gluten was mentioned and I agree that it can bother me a little.
Shortening I think is what sits bad with me. Cheap cake or even donuts sit bad with me. Potato dough donuts better...Any artificial substances like MSG, high fructose cornsyrup, shortening and I stay away from soy. It is impossible to completely eliminate soy from diet, but I do my best to keep everything organic unless eating out.
Sugar is not good for me at all
I love my beer also. Just picked up some 22 oz bottles of Bayhawk California Pale Ale from World Market, which is the only place I can buy it. This is the best pale ale I have had.
Last night, I had an ice cold pint of Guinness, with an ice cold pint glass readied from the freezer. Yummy!

Just like Angie, I have trouble with protein. My stomach takes about 8 hours to digest it. Certain smells of meat make me feel sick too.
