Does anyone with a diagnosis of MG have weakness only on one side of their body? It seems as if I read somewhere that, while uncommon, it is still recognized as pertaining to MG and not necessarily something else. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have weakness on both sides, but the right side is much more pronounced than the left, to the point that the visible muscles are smaller. The neuro has always attributed it to the MG.

My Left-Eye (and surrounding muscles) is weaker than the other side but I have not noticed any differences in weakness elsewhere.

I also have weakness on both sides but for me, my left leg and right arm are weaker. I seldom have ptosis in my left eye but I almost always have it in the right eye. My neck is weak all the way around as are my hips. It's a tricky little disease that we live with. Hugs!

Thank you all. One thing I have realized about MG is that it presents differently in virtually everyone. I was just hoping someone could help assure me that weakness on one side was indeed what they were experiencing. Sigh. I do have a tiny amount of weakness on the other side, but one side is much more pronounced than the other. Since the info we get from the medical community is seemingly less informed than we are, I was hoping to counter my doc's concern about the one sided weakness being associated with something other than MG. More testing is in order, I presume. Double sigh!

I have weakness on my left side only, in all the joints. It came on 18 months ago, whereas I have had ocular MG on and off for 38 years. I never had general MG until the left side started getting weak. It's very difficult for me. Prednisone helps but so far nothing restores full function of my left side.

Thank you, Stevebert. It helps knowing I am not the only one with this manifestation that the physicians find bewildering and suspicious. I certainly think my weakness is related to MG and wish they would focus on that rather than continue to try to diagnose something else. I appreciate your sharing your experience.

I'm sorry your MG has progressed from ocular to generalized. I know you are disappointed. You've been stronger than this disease for almost 4 decades. It's not bigger than you are!

That is how it started for me. Weakness focusing on one side more than the other. Eventually you should notice it on both sides. It may seem worse than it is because you would still be favoring your normal hand if you are right handed and vice versa.
