Hi Eve, I had a thymoma removed 16 months ago which was cancerous. I had no pain nor any trouble breathing. It was following a MG diagnosis that I had a chest scan revealing the tumour. I was very lucky. Best wishes. Gez

Prior to my thymectomy, due to thymoma I experienced sharp sternum pain as long as I can remember. Typically it would occur when I forced swallowing, and hick-ups were always loud and torcherous. Since the thymectomy, almost two years ago, I can honestly say I no longer have pain although swallowing remains difficult and hick-ups still very loud.

Hi Eve. I would ask what does a "clear" x-ray mean? Ask if it showed no thymoma but enlarged thymus, no enlargement or no sign of thymus gland? An x-ray nor CT scan doesn't always show a thymoma.
I would request a CT scan to see what it shows. (It's been 6 months since your last x-ray and you are still having pain--I would think that fact would warrant a CT scan)

I did not have chest pain with my thymoma but know that many do.

Wishing you luck with all your testing and you get your answers. (Was AChR testing negative.)

I did have chest pain for months prior to my thymoma diagnosis. A sharp pain and also a kind of a tight, burning pain. I also had acid reflux though, which was likely not because of the thymoma but as a Myasthenia symptom, as I realized in retrospect that I had very mild MG symptoms for months before my diagnosis but I just didn't know what they were from. So, I think some of the chest pain was from the tumor but I'm not really sure.

Even if you don't have a tumor, I think it would make sense that your MG symptoms might be worse on days when you have more inflammation other places in your body. I hope this helps!

Thank you everyone Gez and Larissam for posting - my pain is tender to the touch to the point where if my children want to cuddles me tightly or rest their heads on my chest it is really painful for me. I do occasionally get shooting pains when I take a deep breath and I find my whole chest to be clicky which is strange?!?! but this could be unrelated!

Sherry - I will ask them at my appointment on Monday, thank you, I was just told it was "Normal" My Dr told me to go back about my chest pain if it didn't settle with anti-inflammatory gel, which it hasn't but I haven't gone as I know steroids can be used to treat Costochondritis and I don't want to take them and risk affecting the Nerve/muscle tests?! So I have been waiting it out until after I have been next week. My ACHR was again "Normal" at 0.12. Thank you for the luck...I really need every bit I can get :)

I have had this since my thymectomy, and on days when my MG flairs up so does the pain. Until I knew what Costochondritis was (2 minutes ago) I had no idea what this pain could be, but it makes a lot of sense now. Also it's not terrible or malignant, just uncomfortable. Thanks Eve! Now I can "name it and claim it!"
