Swelling w/ MG

Hey everyone, question.... I seem to be having swelling issues, swollen face, & pretty much everywhere else. Is this an MG issue & why some are on prednisone? I thought it was probably for daily aid for the respitory system due to the pulmonary MG crisis, but w/ my body swelling just wanted to ask. I have hypothyroid so I figured it was probably that, but when my mom saw me earlier in the day she mentioned how my face & bod looked swelled, I had not had my dose of pyrid BR yet, then later that day we saw each other again & she said "oh, you look so much better". By then I had had my pyrid. Made me wonder. Not a salt eater either no new med or diet changes. Thx for any responses. Everyone still in my thoughts & prayers:). MeLisa

Hi MeLisa,

I have had some issues with swelling in my neck recently. I have also been having problems with breathing, swallowing, and speaking too. I went to a massage therapist a few weeks ago and he mentioned that some of my muscles were swollen as well. My calf muscles for sure. I don't why. It was associated with my prednisone, at least not my legs because I wasn't taking it then.

Thx for the post, it reminded me of of my neck,swallowing,speaking & calf muscles. Gotta jot that down in the med file,ugh;(

I have been on Prednisone since January 60mg daily and have a moon face and swollen ankles. My MG is much better. Bare with it. It will be the first med they try to take you off once you stabilize.

If you are on predisone, it is from that. I hate the swelling and how predinsone makes you look, but it is better than the alternative. It has helped me with my breathing issues and I have seen a change in my vision lately. I actually drove yesterday for the first time in a long time. Hard to do, but I agree we have to be patient and go the distance to get better.

That's what I don't understand, I have not been on medrol nor prednisone since early feb, is this a typical symptom for MG even not on pred? Thx MeL

Gee, I really don't know because most of us are on prednisone which causes that. Have you called your neuro to see what he has to say? Hopefully someone else that is not on prednisone will join this discussion and have more information that will help. However, several people have gone to the convention in Vegas, so probably won't see this until they get back. Hope to hear what is causing your swelling.
