I read previous responses about SSD and I am even more confused. Sme say do it alone others feel it is necessary I hear if you are near retirement it helps...I will be 59 in February. I have had double vision for a month, I can not drive, and I can not go upstairs, balance is not good using a walker, and it is very difficult to get up from a chair unless it has arms. I have been on Mestinon for two weeks with small improvement. I was going to wait 5 months before I file so I have a case history to know whther filing is necessary. I was told when you are 59 it is easier to get and you don't need to pay a fee to lawyer, paralegal, or special service to help you through. Should I get a lawyer involved only if I get decline? Or when SS sees there is a lawyer involved are they more likely to concede because they know they will have a fight on their hands?
It is all very confusing. Do a google search on the Social Security Blue Book and look up the criteria for MG. It explains what is necessary to receive disability.
