Melatonin is a product that your body generates on it's own but as we age we produce less of it which is why older folks tend not to sleep as much. Having said that, we have to take everything with a grain salt because as snowflakes we can never predict what meds (OTC or otherwise) will exacerbate our MG.
Good luck to you! Aloha!
I have used it quiote a bit, the only affect being that I slept better, but like said above we are all diff. so you should use ANYTHING with caution.
Good Luck, hope you find a solution soon

Our bodies strive to keep a balance of the hormones they produce, so I am not sure it is ok to take something unless there is a deficiency. That said, I am just a sample of one. It sure is difficult to contend with the roller coaster ride of symptoms and side effects and side effects of drugs to treat side effects.

Sometimes light therapy can help with problems with sleeping. NASA did some interesting research on that for the astronauts and we have used that for seasonal effectiveness disorder. It can prevent jet lag but the trick is knowing how to apply if effectively for each problem.
Depedning on what your problem is don't rule out help from a sleep center. Sometimes people have circadian dys-arrhythmias and then some of us have sleep apnea. What is for certain is sleep is pretty darn important for all of us so it is valuable to figure out where the problem lies and make attempts to remedy the problems. Some times it is noise or pain that needs addressing.
Sure hope you find some answers! Marie
Now these past couple of weeks I did need to take some a few times. I did not notice any effects on my MG, but I did notice I need a much lower dose that I used to need, even from the same bottle that I used before.
I will ask my neuro about this when I see her next week, as I side note I get to have my first SFEMG this coming Thursday in Boston.
