i was jsut diagnosed abot 3 wks age.have double vision and fatigue,weakness.i am on low dose of mesitnon,taking 4-5 wks to get up to 60 mg tid. i haven't talked dr too much yet-i'm keeping diary of symptoms etc to take to next visit,also all my questions. i read that all drs need to be aware of mg before meds,procedures and surgeries. i'm going to podiarist next week to have corn/bunion removed. is that a big deal i should worry about? hope all are doing as well as you can for today!!

Good to hear you are on low does of mestinon. Does the mestinon relieve your symptoms? I was diagnosed with MG in 1991 and started out of 60mg mestinon 4 - 5 times daily. That greatly reduced my symptoms and I have remained active in running half marathons and exercise (lite weights) and yoga pretty consistantly up to present time. Recently, I've added timespan mestinon for night, which is 180 mg mestinon that last throughout my sleeping hys (7 - 8 hrs). Been going strong over the last 18 yrs (Knock on wood).
You should always let you doctors/dentists know you have been diagnosed with MG and let them know the medication you are taking. Some common meds may have adverse effects on your mestinon and/or your MG. Hope this helps.

Have you visited the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation website yet? There is a lot of information there. You can find a local chapter support group, or how to start one. There are pamphlets you can print. Info you can give your dentist. Some anesthetics may aggravate the MG. I know I have difficulty with anethsia and must be careful with every surgery or procedure. Go to http://www.myasthenia.org/

Let any doctor know, most have not had many cases of our disease. When I had my crisis the whole ER came into observe, because the last case they had was 5 years ago. My neuro.
did not read the book. Go to MG Foundation abd print out booklet for medical people, it's good, I thought maybe I should give my dr. a copy but didn't want to make him angry. L

I am waiting o bloodwork, have double vision both eyes. It just happened to me, scared. Have been patching one eye to see, got prism doesnt seem to work. ANy advice. I do not know if I will be put on meds yet. I am very sad.

I am 56 and of course,female. I woke up with double vision APril 10th.Is this an average age for this disease to onset? Any other advice to manage it. I also stumble without patching my one eye to see. Thanks.
