anyone here ever heard of it? pseudo in medicine means false and the gout is not in the toe as one would think, it's a totally different disease and is caused by crystals forming in a joint (in my case left knee) and is extremely painful. was in a crisis when x-ray taken and the crystals could actually be seen on the x-ray------normally they have to draw fluid from the affected joint and dx is made by looking for crystals under microscope. did medral dose pack and can once again bend my leg at knee----have read extensively on line regarding this but no one seems to be able to give reason why------read one md's assessment and he felt it was some unknown factor going on in the system but after years of study still cannot decifer what is cause since he's had the healthiest of athleths struck down with it even as they raced. unlike gout of toe this stuff has nothing to do with diet and there is nothing you can do to avoid another attact (then again may not have another). here's my theory could it have something to do with MG? any other of you MGer's out there have info regarding pseudo gout? ever had pseudo gout?
I actually have gout so I can't say what the other feels like but I can tell you that gout is insanely painful and is not isolated to your toes or feet. Those are the most common locations but I have it in my hands, elbows, knees, ankles and feet. There is nothing like that kind of pain. It is a deep, harsh ache that will suck the wind right out of you. I would still classify the pain as less than that of a kidney stone but it nags at you endlessly.
My baby sister was actually diagnosed with this but there is no treatment so nothing was ever done about it and as a family we don't agree with the diagnosis.
For me pseudo gout is a diagnosis of great mystery. I wish I could be of more help but at least I've heard of it. I wish you good luck in your research.
