It's all really simple: As soon as the doctor's tests show that the opacity of the cataract has exceeded the threshold of your insurance company's requirement, you do the surgery. The surgery is simple, only takes 15 minutes. A few hours after the surgery, a whole new world of visual treats awaits you. My vision is better now than when I was 13 years old. Unfortunately, I am one of the minority who has developed a secondary cataract in one of my eyes but they just blast that away with a laser.
