Anyone else out there in MG land end up with cataracts from prednisone use? I learned yesterday that I have a rapidly growing cataract on my left (a.k.a good) eye, that was not there when this adventure started about six momths ago. Still on a 30/10 mg dose and waiting for the nuero to call me in the AM. Any words of wisdom....
It's all really simple: As soon as the doctor's tests show that the opacity of the cataract has exceeded the threshold of your insurance company's requirement, you do the surgery. The surgery is simple, only takes 15 minutes. A few hours after the surgery, a whole new world of visual treats awaits you. My vision is better now than when I was 13 years old. Unfortunately, I am one of the minority who has developed a secondary cataract in one of my eyes but they just blast that away with a laser.
