No longer will I allow doctors and medical staff put their interest first over my needs and comfort. Too often during a medical procedure we are put into very uncomfortable positions. I fully understand the reason why and have no problem with the discomfort and pain. But I will no longer tolerate being put in the position just to wait for the doctor. Numerous times I have been put in position just to wait on the doctor for as long as 5 to 15 minutes.
Often during the procedures we become so uncomfortable we need something to help with comfort. Often my muscles get so tense I start having MG symptoms and become overheated. During one test I advised the doctor and staff of my discomfort and becoming hot. I was told it would be another two minutes. At least another five minutes and still becoming more stressed and hot, I again asked for help and to please remove some of the blankets. Again I was told another two minutes. The end resulted having MG symptoms that I was not having before the test.
Since then I put my needs first. During an ER admission I had a tech doing a triage EKG. I was put on an exam table in a very comfortable position. When I asked the tech for a pillow he told me the test would take just a minute. He continued with the test and I was still very uncomfortable making getting a good EKG very difficult. I finally told the tech he was a jerk and asked my wife to give me the pillow right next to her, it took 3 seconds.
Later I had another test and put in an uncomfortable position just to wait for the doctor. This time when I explained to the tech to please make me comfortable and then put me in the necessary position when the doctor finally showed up, she fully understood and agreed to my request.
Too often medical staff and doctors put their needs first and do not listen to us. I will no longer put up with being treated in this unacceptable manner.

There is no excuse for that and lately, at least in our hospitals, the staff has been kind and courteous-- of course there was that last mammogram . . . b.

What a trained medical tech - couldn't also simply accomplish!

It's a wonder, sometimes?
How any of us - survive our medical ''treatment''.
We have a pact, among family members here.
Nobody - goes to a doctor, a treatment, a hospital.
Without a family member, right by their side.
Not for comforting.
We don't trust the medical establishment.

Im so sorry they treated you like this. I am not suprised unfortunatly and have seen this time and time again when Micki was in the hospital so much.
Glad your wife was there to help.
I hope you reported this to the hospital adminstration and patient advocate.

My wife shut a Dr. down real fast when he started treating me like a 5 year old, just because I could not talk did not mean I was retarted. He was a MD in emergency, before the Nuero arrived.
In truth I was treated with respect and care.
