When you read the book you will probably find yourself saying that has happened to me. I know the information I have learned so far will help me advocate for myself and not fall into the various pathways doctors so often following that can be so misguided.

The problem in general is that even when we speak up we are often chastised. They look down own us with the irritation that they went to medical school and we only read on the internet and how dare we question them! I myself am seeking a second opinion because I have mentioned additional symptoms to my neuro on the last 3 or 4 visits that he said were not MG related and simply dismissed them. When I got to my new neuro with the Vet Admin she stated that she knew my original neuro and said he was a good doctor and promptly told me one of the tests he ordered twice was ordered incorrectly and one of his diagnosis was most likely wrong because of the method he used to diagnose it.

Yes, it is easy to be lost as a patient in the health care business. I try to be informed about all aspects of my disease, treatment options and medications. The internet helps we seek out reputable sites. We also need to ask questions from our doctors and insist on understandable answers from our doctors.
I would never leave my car in the hands of a repair shop I hadn't checked out very carefully ahead of time. I value my own repair even more highly.
