New Meds

So since it has been 20 years since I have been on any medication I don't know what all these new meds/treatments are that are talked about here. My family doc wants to refer me next month to a neuro. The one that saw me through the last time is only for headaches. Also I was rear ended last October, the guy fell asleep & hit me doing 40. So doctor wants me to have injections. Is this save with the MG. None of the docs seem to be able to answer that. I'm thinking this accident is the cause of the return of my MG. And I have had a EMG done, is this the same test for MG, it came back abnormal. So if it is, is it back injury or MG. My antibody test is elevated & will be test again. I know that's a lot of questions to ask. Thanks.

Debbie, I am definately not the expert but sounds like It could have triggered your MG again & also may have additional injury from the car wreck (so sorry!!). I have a neck injury from the same thing only he crossed over into my lane going opposite direction & it was a head on hit. MG came much later but it has made my neck injury bother me much more! I would call & make sure the neuro was MG expierienced! As far as the injection I would want an MG neuro to advise on that, seems there are meds that MG does not mix well with but it is all individual too! Much luck Debbie! MeLisa

Well, it depends on what the injections are. You will need to verify it on the drug list. If for some reason you don't have MG again now, you could induce it with the injection. Hard to say.

As for your EMG, it certainly could be, but your blood test should say it all it sounds like.

You are among those that understand here. Sorry you are going through this stuff again. It ain't a picnic!
