Myasthenia Gravis Support Group
Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a neuromuscular disease leading to fluctuating muscle weakness and fatiguability. The hallmark of myasthenia gravis is muscle weakness that increases during periods of activity and improves after periods of rest. But there is a HUGE part of me that is so sad that I will never meet the "phantom" third baby.My husband is getting snipped very very soon.
Some immune suppressants that are suggested for us are "mutagenic." There are muntagen studies on each drug ever developed which shows if they can harm embryos. (there is panel of mutagen studies done for each drug) They also should show if they can harm the eggs that you already have. This is a much more gray area for the tests that they do - because they can't always prove that the damage is permanent - or perhaps if you stop the drug for 6mos - that the effect will wear off.
I still don't know the answer to this - some of the drugs suggested to us are definitely worse than others. I love my neuro but wish someone would have brought this up to be beforehand.
Like the rest of you - I know I have 2 beautiful and HEALTHY babies and should be happy with what I have...but that is a hard thing sometimes....
Though not sick with mg when l had my third,it was a difficult pregnancy, birth(my OBGYN had said never again) and he was a sick baby. When he was 6 mths my husband had a vasectomy.IT was a huge decision,as despite all that was said l would have loved another ,and l truly did feel grief at knowing for me that was that.
My youngest was dx'ed autistic at 2 ,even though everyone around me was saying it was a good thing l'd have no more,l still struggled with the decision that we made.
Now 21 years later.it was the right thing for us,but you know if we could all see into our futures how different our lives would be.
Really talk to your partner ,family , and friends (and doctors) about this, will they give you the support you need?.
One thing that having both a child with a disability and having mg has taught me,is that you really find out who your friends are.
Now l have two grandchildren and another on the way,and l get to do all the fun stuff that littleones bring to your life, with the knowledge that when it all gets to much l can send them back to mum and dad.
But go with your heart and husband and Dr. I think most of the meds are bad and can harm the fetus, what medicines are you on?? so hopfully we can go into remission and have more! Good luck!
How to hear from God.
Talk to him about it.
I hope you get a straight clear answer. I always listened to others and now I didnt have enought kids. I am having grandkids and still want more kids. If you thinik the desire will go away.....mine didin't. Wanting a baby is a Godly desire.
Ann
PS The treatment future may be brighter for us and our neonates, but that doesn't appear likely for the next several years.
