I went inot crisis 5 days after lidocain and some say it only may have caused the problem. I now need more work done am not willing to take lidocain. So I am going to U of M to talk about alternative ways to deaden my nerves so I can have lidocain.
Oh well
My dentist (who doesn't have NO2 capabilities) actually pooh-poohed me when I expressed some concern about this. I think (I know) he didn't want to lose me and my insurance. I haven't had any procedures since my dx, but this sounds like a rotten reaction. I always imagined the effects of lidocaine would be immediate, but with MG, you can exert and exert and then feel it hours or days later.

I do; however, experience mg symptoms with amoxicillin. You might want to consider, too, that the antibiotic may be adding to your weakness as well.

Interesting you had mg symptoms with amoxicillin, this one was not on my list of meds to stay away from but guess will have to be cautious with all antibiotics from now on. Definitely schedule a light week when on them.
He then said that the biopsy will be done in the hospital. He said that he has another MG patient who also had MG but did not inform him that he had MG. This patient has a prostate with cancer and required surgery. The surgery was done in the hospital. The patients stopped breathing. The hospital had the equipment to save his life. In an office setting using Lidocaine he did not have equipment to intubate, etc. My Urologist said, "It scared me to death."
So in summary: Thanks for the post regarding Lidocaine.
Ladies, for the men in your life, fathers, brothers, husband and/or boy friends, make sure they get PSA blood tests.
If you have MG don't use Lidocaine.
They will not be using it on me in the hospital when I have my biopsy done in about a week.
