Musk Antbodie

Has any one been tested positive for the Musk antibodie? If so, how has this been treated and do the symptoms differ from the regular MG?

I'm seronegative with the standard test, so my neurologist had the MUSK antibody test done as well. I tested negative with that one as well. I haven't heard that the symptoms are different if you do test positive for Musk antibodies, but there's so many variations in symptoms from one person to another with MG.

I'm seronegative and also, had the MuSK test
and it was negative, also. My dr. did it as
a favor to me as he thought I would have alot
more eye problems if I had the MuSK antibodies.
From what he said that is the main difference,
more eye problems.
I had to have a nurse come to my house to do
the test as it is not a standard blood test
done at labs.

My daughter's myasthenia was confirmed by "acetylcholine receptor binding antibody of 6.48 nmol with elevated modulating antibodies as well." Does this mean she has Musk antibodies and what are they? It's the first I've heard of them. Thanks. Sarah 100

The acetylcholine antibody is the standard test. They normally won't perform the MUSK antibody test unless that test is negative.

Actually the reason most of MG patients do not get the Musk antibody test is because the insurance companies deny payment for it because it is expensive. The blood is drawn at home and then sent to Wooster, Mass. for testing. The testing is done in batches Monday-Thursday. We should all be tested for it.
