I hope we can all go next year! I am not going to vegas because I am definitely not stable enough for a long trip - but a short train to nyc with cab rides and friends in the city, I think I can do...

I am going to look into it more today. The registration rates are fairly steep but the program and speakers look really good...particularly the entire day dedicated to treatment outcomes etc!

If you can go --GO. This is the international scientific conference that is held every five years and this one is on the east coast. The agenda sounds fasinating and I would love to be there. But this month is filled with medical matters, not all mine, and the papers will be online (at least the ones from the last conference were) so all is not lost. But it is never like actually being there.

I'm not trying to talk anyone out of going to the Symposium in NYC, but, keep in mind that scientists, clinicians, statisticians, etc. are the intended audience for the International Symposium - the Dr. Kaminski's and Dr. Sanders' of the world, if you will. I know we as patients are very interested in the information that will be presented, but, just keep in mind it's going to be presented at a very high level of scientific detail. if you are thinking about going, seriously consider whether you'll be able to understand the information as it is presented, especially considering the expense of the conference. Again, I'm not trying to tell anyone what they should or shouldn't do - if you want to go and can afford it, hey, have fun and we can't wait to hear how it goes. But, it's just something to consider.

Thanks for the responses! Sorry for the late response - started crashing again and went back for PLEX. Yes - I do have a medical background - but not with this stuff. Now that I know this is only every 5 years, I am thinking more towards going! It is a great agenda! There is a discount for patients.

Well, if anyone lives in the nyc area and would like to meet up that would be great. I have yet to meet someone else with MG in person!!

Ann - totally agree about the emotional component following the physical. I do get down quite a bit but have 2 things that keep me going: 1) I can't seem to take too much time to reflect with my 2 CRAZY little people who are always going and 2) my patients are very sick...so when I go to work I gain a great deal of perspective. MG still SUCKS!! and life will never be the same...but it could always be worse! I am just so thankful that I know PLEX works for me when I need something!

Ann and Nicole, I also understand about the emotional being tied closely to the physical. I had plex on Wednesday and it always helps. I find myself feeling so much better but...BUT...I also find myself closely monitoring my symptoms and freaking just a little if and when they creep up and bite me. I so very much want plex to obliterate the problems I've been having that I am disappointed when I find I'm not cured, lol. Silly but I have to have a serious talk with myself.

I probably won't be there, this year.
(For all the same reasons, that I couldn't make it to LV.)

But I would love to meet other MG'ers, in the future.
And plan on doing exactly that - down the road.

NYC is an easy ride for us, here in southern Maine.
We even have family, living in ''upstate Manhattan''.
Who have asked us repeatedly, to come visit.

I met Joe, last summer, quite serendipitously!
Joe introduced me to DS - and all you wonderful people!!
