MG and Colonoscpy

Well, yesterday my hubby had his colonoscopy after much thought as we are here in NY and MG doctor in Florida! We have so much faith in Jerry's Florida neurologist and they emailed back and forth and she told him she really felt he would do fine as his case is mild! This doctor has done two colonoscopies on him before and insisted meeting with him before hand to decide whether to do it or not! I ask this doctor if he has done MG patients, something suggested from this group, and he said yes and they made out fine! I ask for it to be done in the hospital and he agreed just to be on the safe side! Jerry did have a few polyps and always good to get them removed due to his family history! The doctor told us because of MG he kept his meds light but him very comfortable! Jerry was not as concerned as I was but I am very glad to have it done for another 5 years! He left the hospital after an hour and been perfectly fine yesterday and today! I thought maybe others might like to hear a positive story of MG! I believe the key to procedures is to talk to your doctors as each case is so different! I love this group and find it so informative and so loving! Please know I continue to pray for each of you thru this tough battle of MG! Special prayers right now go out to Ross! I don't have MG but do believe MG is a family disease! My best to everyone! I'm so glad everything went fine. I'm also getting mine, it's been already 5 years since I got my first one. I was concerned but now I know that it can be performed, of course I have to find the right doctor.

Marcela,I hope you have good luck with yours too! I felt real good that this doctor said he will keep the Versed and Fentanyl at a low dose but also keep him comfortable! He emailed the drugs used to his neurologist and she responded about those!

I am glad everything went well and I bet you both are happy that it is all over for another five years. Mine is next year - Yuck! Luckily the doc I see has had a large number of MGers, so he knows exactly what is needed. First time I have ever met a medical person who has had several MGers to treat besides me. Always wondered what doc they all saw and now I know - a Gastroenterologist ! Live and learn.

So glad your husband did well and polyps were removed!! I have strong family hx. and due in 3 yrs. My biggest problem is with the prep beforehand to clean you out... do you remember what your husband ws given?

My hubby had to take 10 oz botle of magnesium citrate 3pm the day before! At that time mix and divide 8oz oz powder into two different 32 oz bottles of Gatorade, that being 4oz each bottle! At 6pm that day before you drink one bottle Gatorade! At 6AM next day drink the second bottle! These two bottles you drink one cup every 15 minutes! The second day was day of appointment at 10:30 AM! He said so much better tasting and no problem getting it down! So much better than the gallon before! Doctor told him he gets no more complaints! I have mine in less than two weeks so I can give you a better report as Jerry is nicer than me! Lol. Barb

wow mixing that in gatorade sounds soo much better then the gosh awful mix i had to gush down...never did finish it or keep it all down. Def let know how you do. I have this wriiten down in my binder for future reference. thanks a bunch!!
