Myasthenia Gravis Support Group
Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a neuromuscular disease leading to fluctuating muscle weakness and fatiguability. The hallmark of myasthenia gravis is muscle weakness that increases during periods of activity and improves after periods of rest. Although myasthenia gravis may affect any voluntary muscle, muscles that control eye and eyelid movement, facial expression, and...
this is one of (the wonderfull thing) that mg has for us, it is typical and progressive,
my first year of mg, nothing to do my muscles, exremities wher doing great with out any problems, but after one year i start to see, this problem wich i dint appreciate, due to lots of cramping, pain ect,
also i notice that my muscles and extermities where loosing body mass.
cramping, pain and related can be control very easy, i purchasse a TENSIL hand machine at the cost of about $80.00 applyed it to each quadrant for about 15 minute each, that aliviate the pain and releive the cramping.
that i take a slow to brisk walk for about 30minutes.
also it is imperative for mg to activate your muscles by take one or 2 walk dayli of about 45minutes, also swimm helps
neuropathy is one of this thing that i beleive rides the back of mg., i have to, but i am not concerned
you have to face the crazys turns that mg. has for us, and try to control your own destiny
in my 9 yrs. of generalized bulbar mg, i have gone from good to exremaly dangerous back to almost normal
it onlt take willingness to move forward and live aside the rest, if y at 80years i can do it, there is no reason why anybody else cannot
best of luck

also the most important fact that i notice
Thanks for the input. Symptoms are like what I am feeling - minor pain, numbness and tingling.
Looks like the treatment is basically the same as for MG.
Finished the 3rd round of IVIG and still not seeing much benefit. It is interesting though that 4 to 5 days before my next IVIG I start feeling really FLAT.
Seeing my Neuro in two weeks. Will discuss adding another treatment, maybe prednisone or something like it. Also scheduled for another IVIG mid November - 4th treatment.
Thanks all for your input.
About weakness, the biggest issue I have is I think I am doing well and then I do something like transfer dishes from one cabinet to another. The next day total weakness.
Always feel the results of overdoing the next day.
About the limb neuropathy -- for many years before I was diagnosed with MG, my first symptom of each MG attack (we call them flares now) was arm pain and weakness and numbness in my left hand. My arms would then hurt terribly for a few days. The only thing that helped me recover was keeping my arms as still as possible. When the aching felt like a hot nerve pain, I would know that the attack was subsiding. Doctors told me that this couldn't be MG (I am seronegative) because MG isn't associated with pain.
Since my MG treatment (Prednisone, Imuran, PLEX) has been in full swing, I have experienced the arm pain and numbness only a few times, and that was with particularly bad flares. I recently found out about CIPD and have also wondered if that could be what the arm pain and presumable neuropathy was about. As the treatment seems to be the same for MG and CIPD, for me whether or not it is CIPD is moot now.

the machine i have is called tens premium, in short TENSIL (for intensity if combo. i have purchassed it thru the net.
you should be able to get one at any major drug stores like cvs. ect, their cost start about $30.00 to $80.00
mine costed $82.00 plus shipping
as i mentioned manny time i would not be able to perform my daylies activities without it,
the only thing that you need is to take it by quadrants for about 15 to 20min each, where the cramping and pain start, then after i take a short walk to get myself going
if you need more info let me know, I appreciate that you are willing to try,
you will never regrete it
good luck
