IVIg & nausea

Hi,
I started today the first of my three day IVIg infusion. This is not my first infusions - I have had probably 5.
Today though was different. About 20 minutes after start I noticed that my stomach started feeling very upset - nauseous. I didn't mention it to my home health nurse. A bit later tried to eat a bit, then took a few tums, then finally after about 4 hrs mentioned it. Of course she gently got in to me and we looked it up and it is listed as a side effect but she stated none of her IVIg patients had ever complained of that before.
Anyone here ever deal with it? There were even a few times I felt as though I were going to get sick.
Even this evening I still feel very nauseous- ugh! I did take some compazine I had and that did help.

It happened to me quite often until we slowed the rate down. My max drip rate is 80 now. Before that, they were up to 140 [which is also my weight] but I couldn't handle it. I still get a wave of it once in a while, but it passes very quickly.

Hi. I had the same problem as Steve0716. The rate was too fast and we had to slow down. The other thing that my nurse dose is it that about 1.5 hrs ramp up to my normal rate of 120. She also has me get the meds out of the fridge a couple hrs before. She said the cold meds can cause the headaches and stomach. We have a pretty good routine where I just get mild headache and nausea. Good luck hope you feel better

I have IVIg every three weeks, before each session I take a Benadryl and two Tylenol. My first time I refused the drugs and had a reaction which was upset stomach, nausea and flu like symptoms. Since then I have always taken the meds, the infusion rate was slowed down slightly and I find it very helpful to drink lots of water during the process.
I have my sessions at the hospital and have noticed that every one there getting IVIg takes Benadryl.
