I've taken the suggestions of others here and use handrails and never carry anything when on stairs.

The past year on medication I have not had falls. I seem to be doing better in that category.
Really got sore necks from that coping mechanism. I too fell a few times, but luckily it was more of a slow crumple than a real fall. I tried to stay on flat surfaces, use both hand rails on stairs, and, as I had just had a new knee put in at about the time MG struck, I continued used of a cane for a time after my knee was OK. Added comfort I guess.
