I Announced My Medical Leave Today

Some of you may be aware that I am the Senior Pastor of Ringgold First Baptist Church of Ringgold GA. My church has been very supportive of me and my family during all of my medical problems. I appreciate them very much!

This morning I announced I will be taking an extended medical leave beginning January 2010. That was a very hard thing for me to do. But, my neurologists says it is time to stop and let my body have a chance to heal. I am--at least I will try to stop.

I have fought long and hard, taken tons of medication, experienced 2 - five day plasma exchanges, and begin 4 days of IVIG on December 20.

I am not giving up! The goal now is to continue aggressive treatments, focus on rest and healing, get better and eventually go back to work!

I downloaded it last night and started reading. It was very easy to do, very nice of you to make this available. I haven't read very far but what I have read is really good, easy to relate to (like most here will find I suspect) and I love the spiritual application. I had my first IVIG (1 of 4) today (12/20/10) and things went well. I have a slight headache and slight chills tonight, but otherwise fine.

I'm so glad to hear your first day of IVIG was fairly uneventful. Watch that headache, my first day was much the same. I had my second round last week and it seems the one week headache may be the way it goes for me. This time though was "just" a headache, not aseptic meningitis. Be sure you're drinking enough water. What dose are they giving you each day?

So it sounds like you are at 1g/kg body weight? The loading dose for me was two days with 2g/kg the fist day and 1g/kg the second. I think it was that first big dose that was too much for me. I seem to do okay on 1g/kg. Let us know how today goes. I hope it works so well that you have a fabulous and strong Christmas!

My dose is 2 grm per kilo. 280 grams total. I am 140 kilos. Sorry I was not clear about that.

So you're getting 2g/kg spread out over 4 days? That sounds more reasonable than 2g/kg in one day. I hope the headache is better and leaves you alone.

Yes, I am getting a total of 280 grams. That is 70 grams per day over four days. 2g/kg of body weight total.
