Myasthenia Gravis Support Group
Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a neuromuscular disease leading to fluctuating muscle weakness and fatiguability. The hallmark of myasthenia gravis is muscle weakness that increases during periods of activity and improves after periods of rest. Although myasthenia gravis may affect any voluntary muscle, muscles that control eye and eyelid movement, facial expression, and...
Maybe that will keep you from feeling so weak in the afternoon, as I know the later in the day is harder on me.

You will not do any further harm to yourself by not taking it, you would just be dealing with symptoms perhaps.
Whether or not you take it on a schedule is up to you, but I think that is best when you first start it and until your MG is controlled. Once MG is controlled(by getting treatment(s)), take it whenever you feel like it, if you feel like it.

I agree with Larissa that, in the beginning, to function best the medication needs to be pretty much around the clock. After immunosuppression really kicks in, that may not be so necessary. b
Restorativepose, Are you taking Mestinon on a empty stomach? If you need to eat something prior to taking Mestinon it should help with the stomach upset.
Basically I stick to the set times for my tablets else I really suffer later in the day.

Sometimes I feel like I could OD on caffine. I am not even supposed to take it. (it is literally against my religion!) But it also just works on part of what is weak. I can't even describe it.
Does anyone relate to that one. How does Mestinon feel different. My PCP looked at me like I was asking for Crack!! He said, I don't know the first thing about that stuff. It isn't just him.
Is it a dangerous med. I think I would rather take a medicine that could make me very sick to my stomach than to have a spinal tap. I think others would be with me on that.
It's like they don't want to be responsible for MG. I think doctors are for the most part very afraid of this disease. They want to pass you on to the next Dr. It would almost be funny if it wasn't so aggrivating.
