I continue to take meds to reduce my cholesterol and triglycerides. Both my PCP and neuro like you to bring a current medication list with you during each visit, they like to keep abreast of what the other prescribes. They communicate back and fourth as well. They work very well together.
The only real problem I have from the "statin" is constipation. The MG has also slowed my system down abit so I make sure to eat lots of fruits and vegs and drink plenty of water. I also take Miralax as needed. Both docs agree with this approach for me. Your md/neuro may have something else in mind for you.
Some statins have been known to cause muscle weakness as a side effect, oral medication for type 2 diabetes can also have the same side effect!
