Hey my friends! Need some help, well that's not honest, a lot of help or feedback.
Our doc feels my daughter (17& 1/2y.o.) could have MG as of Friday a.m.
She only had 30mg's of Mestinon Friday afternoon since our docs script. Then went to the movies w/ friends. She came to my room around 9p.m. crying w/ chronic pain & the wear of battling it also has been tiresome on her. Took her to the ER & did tell them she was just now being treated for MG. We were then admitted for pain control ,well you all know the game, once admitted & in our room the floor docs felt possible fibromyalgia & said stop the Mestinon. We were discharged a bit ago w/ a non-narc pain med,Tramadol & Amitriptyline. Of course I will call doc, but the holiday w-end will make seeing him not til Tuesday:(
Don't know what to think, she has symptoms from both. I am exhausted but could care less about that, I just want to get closer to the true dx of my daughters health issues. We know for certain Celiac Disease, Myco Plasma Bacterial Pnuemonae which is active, Lypo Atrophy only in one spot on her lower back. thx for any stories or aid in deciphering all this info. MeLisa

The concern I have is with Tramadol. It hits numerous receptors (muscarinic, nicotinic, ssri, snri, opiate). This makes it a messy drug. These receptors are bound with MG receptor sites and anyone who has MG with respiratory, could find themselves having a whole lot of trouble with this medication.
If she needs a narcotic for pain, there are cleaner opiates out there. There are also other, non-opiate drugs for nerve pain that are non-addictive, such as lyrica.
I hope she gets what she needs very soon...debra
