A BIG HUG FOR YOU
Chuck
If there is a way for someone there to hold a phone up to his ear you might well be able to talk to him and have a chance to express your feelings. That might give you some peace.
I feel like at times like this our love transcends time and space.
Hugs to you and to him, Marie
I would ask for calls from his care team. Weekly, daily, whatever YOU need to help ease your mind.
Trained hospice Volunteers can offer peace of mind that someone will be there, to sit by his side, hold his hand, no agenda, just be present.
If dad is unresponsive you can still speak to him. Arrange with staff regular calls and have them hold the phone to his ear. I recall a a similar situation at the hospice I worked for where the volunteer was at the house and received regular calls from the granddaughter. She sang to him every week. Not a dry eye in team meeting.
Please take extra care of yourself Barb during this stressful time.

I really understand how you feel and I am so sorry. Try not to be hard on yourself. You got some good advice above. You need to take care of yourself.
