As hurricane Irene winds down and electricity resumes, please let us know how you are doing. Over the mountais into Tennessee we have beautiful cooler weather. For gardeners it was disappointing not to get some rain as it has been dry, but are thankful not to have any flooding or high winds. Hoping you and all your families are safe. b

I live in western ma and so far we have fared welll here-lots of rain-about 5 inches and a little bit of wnd-it was forcasted for more wind-localized flooding-at the end of my street where bridges are closed and a family had to be rescued. I consider myself to be lucky-it could have been worse.

Couldn't check in...power was out because of downed lines. No major damage in my area (central MA)...could have been a lot worse, so we were lucky :)

So glad you are all safe.
We left NZ to come here to Australia, and after the floods and fires of Black Saturday thought NZ was a safer place to live then they had the earthquake!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Guys,
Couldn't check in, no power since Sat. night, returned tonight. The news had us pretty scared, many City's were evacuated, we had some damage but could have been a lot worse, Glad it is over. Glad to hear everyone is okay.

I live in western Massachusetts but spend my workdays in New York (Albany). Things were ok at home but yesterday, I had to tour the Catskills to survey the damage (I do school construction).

I have witnessed flood damage before but what I observed yesterday could only be described as horror. I have never seen such widespread devastation in my life. Roadways and bridges were gone. Homes were swept away and destroyed. Schools had seen 4 feet of water. One of our schools was missing one of their full-size school buses. It was found 7 miles downstream in a farmer's field. One town we visited had 11 buildings standing out of the 200 that were there before the flooding. There was furniture up in trees, cars and trucks strewn everywhere, hundreds of homes where furniture was piled up along the street, destroyed.

Pray for these folks. Their burden is certainly as great as ours.
