I always seem to have reactions to medications. I recently started taking Cellcept and my neuro wants to go slow on increasing it. Been taking one for 2 weeks and now ready to go to 2 daily. Do you take them together or one in the am and one in the pm? I have been taking the one dose in the evening.

Cellcept is usually taken twice per day. It is best to take it on an empty stomach because it is better absorbed that way. I am like you though and I have a hard time with many medications (not just from an MG point of view) so I have to take them with food. I am on 3 tablets twice daily and I always take it with food because it upsets my stomach. It should be taken 12 hours apart ideally.

You are on a small doze. I take 5, 250mg pills in the morning and 5 at night, and have been doing this for six months, and we still do not know if it is working. I am improved from six months ago, but do not know whether that is due to the CellCept or the Prednisone (now taking 30mg of Prednisone a day, reduced from 40mg one month ago). I have been instrycted to take the CellCept one hour before or two hours after eating.

With a history of med reactions, you are probably better off taking the dose twice a day rather than once. I did ask my neuro this question and she said it did not matter but it would be easier on me to do it twice. Also, she said if need be, take it with food. It works better without food, but do what you have to do.

I hope it works for you. It can take up to 12 months to actually see any results from it. I saw my first benefits after 6 months. I love cellcept. It takes care of so many of my autoimmune issues. It is not quite enough so I also am taking IVIG and Rituxan, but it is really a great drug and doesn't cause me any side effects other than blood counts drop pretty low. So we carry hand sanitizer everywhere now.
