I do get weaker when my potassium is 4.0 or lower. My family doc sees it the the range (3.5-5.5) and says I'm fine but my naturopath noticed the relationship to my hospital visits for trouble breathing when my levels were at the low end of normal. I do take potassium supplements and eat a "bowl of potassium" as a bedtime snack each night - banana, pumpkin seeds, nuts, dried fruit, etc.
Interestingly I just got my magnesium tested last week. I convinced doc to do red blood cell level too; it was near the high end of normal, the regular test, the low end of normal. So everything we can measure is in a good range. Found out yesterday that alcohol (even half a cider) makes the palpitations worse when I was attending a work event. Oh, well.....
