I was diagnosed 14 yrs ago and had all the classic symptoms. I had my thymectomy about a month later. Every day is a struggle, but you won't feel as bad as you do now. It does get better with time just hang in there. And it also takes time to get your meds adjusted.
Hope you feel better soon,
Kim
I too had a thymectomy and my MG was way worse after the surgery. It does settle back down and luckily for me it is way better now than before or just after I had the surgery. It does take time. It took me nearly six months. Unfortunately patience is what is needed but I am not a patient person so I suppose it was a bit of a lesson for me! It was a gradual improvement over time. I kept a daily journal on what I could do and how I felt each day. After a couple of months I didn't think there was much improvement but when I looked back over my journal, I could see improvements. Try not to rush into doing anything. Take more rest time than before the surgery and limit what you do. Believe me it all helps. Hate to say it but "patience"! Good luck, Jules
My Mom had a thymectomy in Dec 09. Prior to surgery it was ocular only. Post surgery it went generalized very quickly and she suffers from severe respiratory impairment. Its been 10 months and we have seen no improvement. We are now on our third neuro and trying new things. My best advice is to keep trying new things. New doctors, new hospitals, new combo of therapies. They keep telling us it takes a while for a body to show positive improvement after thymectomy (up to 3 years) so patience is a virtue we hope there is an infinite supply of. Like Cathi said, just hang in there. And know you are not the only one with increased severity of MG after thymectomy. Hope you find the right mix of meds soon!
