Myasthenia Gravis Support Group
Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a neuromuscular disease leading to fluctuating muscle weakness and fatiguability. The hallmark of myasthenia gravis is muscle weakness that increases during periods of activity and improves after periods of rest. Although myasthenia gravis may affect any voluntary muscle, muscles that control eye and eyelid movement, facial expression, and...
I always figured that I didn't do anything to deserve MG and that, of course it was my parent's fault that I turned out as I am ;-)
This actually is important, for if it is a genetic flaw, then we are not to blame for getting MG However, it is still likely something triggers it to activate after being quiet for many years (65 in my case).
My mom feels terrible that we share the same specialists... of course I'm thankful I only have 3 specialists right now...
My paternal grandmother had MG and Parkinson's. Mom has peripheral neuropathy and inflammatory arthritis. Her mom had peripheral neuropathy also.
Definitely genetics going on here. Hoping some kind of intervention will be able to help my kids...or their dad's genes will override mine...
From approx. age 23 to 28, I was exposed to every toxic chemical used in semiconductor manufacturing, chemicals that are still used today. I was even accidently poisoned several times, severely enough to require trips to the ER. Many other people working with me, were also poisoned and required more lengthy hospital stays (weeks, some months).
Young women would lose their unborn children.
Until the 1980s, this semiconductor-manufacturer dumped its toxic wastes onto farm land, 25-miles from the manufacturing plant.
Today, it is known as the McKin EPA SuperFund Site. The town in which the McKin Site is located: created a land-zone out of the Site and the surrounding land: prohibiting the drawing of any water from the Site's water table - for 500 years.
So much for ''clean jobs'' that the electronics industry likes to say it features.
The only reason I have posted this?
Other than me - there's not a hint of MG or any other neuromuscular disease - anywhere in my family, either in my generation, or in the generation before me. (I'm thankful my daughter was born, before I went to work at this silently evil place.)
Sounds environmental to me, don't you think?
