Myasthenia Gravis Support Group
Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a neuromuscular disease leading to fluctuating muscle weakness and fatiguability. The hallmark of myasthenia gravis is muscle weakness that increases during periods of activity and improves after periods of rest. When I was on high doses of Prednisone it was "Ok" and the mestinon only helps a little bit. I am on 60 mg of Mestinon four times per day, 1500 mg of Cellcept twice a day and I am now down to 10 mg of Prednisone each day. My vision has improved the most since the combination of the three meds but it's still bothersome. My vision is best first thing in the morning and worsens throughout the day.
I also deal with many other symptoms but as far as my vision issues go, I basically just live with where I am currently. I wish I could be of more assistance. I know this is something that a lot of us struggle with. I hope you find some answers for your son. Hugs!

If so I do believe the best medicine for eyes is resting the eyes in Addition to treatment meds he is currently on which if I remember correctly is 60 of prednisone. Is that right?
The mestonin seems to be the drug that helps with my vision, I time my driving and vision heavy activities around taking that pill.. seems to be 30 mins later and then mestonin takes effect.
Rest, although certainly part of the treatment program has not ALWAYS worked for me, even overnite rest doesn't always make an impact. Sometimes it does, but sometimes it doesn't.
Hopeful that the thymectomy could take away ONE symptom, any of the many would be nice... so far... not so much... actually in some cases worse than before surgery, but it is what it is.. just got to keep moving forward..
hope he is doing better soon.
