Being that I have worked with several Dr.'s (all in one group) and running my own practice, that not all Dr.'s are like that. Most of them are tho. 99% of the time the Dr.'s schedule of being on time really depends on the front desk as well as the patient (if the patient got there in time for paper work etc.) One of the biggest reasons one of the Dr.'s & I went out on our own was because patients where waiting longer than they should, not getting the treatment they should or the care. When we went out on our own, I noticed a big difference. The difference is when you are in a practice that is owned by a bigger corporation the Dr. is just an employee like you. Alot of patients think that because they see a Dr. he is the one who runs the office and pays the employees but thats not true 99% of the time. Usually there is a Dr. that own that corporation that is no longer practicing but doing the management side. They hire others to run the offices and pay employees while they are off vacationing. they just collect the benefits of owning the practice.
I always think its better to see a Dr. that is privately owned. Meaning he owns his practice, its usually small, 1or 2 Dr.'s besides their self and only a few employees. It sounds impossible but it can be done and done efficiently. Its just you never see it or hear of it.
I will tell you, complaining to the Dr. their self when it is a big practice is no good. It goes in one ear out the other. Why? because they are just an employee as well as the others. You should write a letter explaining your experience, your thoughts and feelings even on how it was and how it should be. Send it to the practice owner or management (usually is not in the same location as the office you where seen in) cc a copy to your Dr. as well as the insurance company if you feel that strongly about it. That gets their attention.
There is NO and i repeat NO reason why that Dr. should not of called you back with those MRI results especially with the results being what they are. The nurse that called you back was only reading what the Dr wrote on the results. That Dr, probably called another Dr such as a neuro or the radiologist to get further details. Thats why it took them so long to get back to you. She didn't know what to say. Its very very sad that patients go thru this. i have seen Dr.'s have nurses call patients back to tell them they have cancer. Thats WRONG!!! thats the Dr.'s place. Then in that case the only reason the nurse should of called the patient was to tell them the Dr wants to see them and make an appt.
The last 4 yrs, every patient that called the office and needed to be seen that day was. The refills where done that day, test results called back within 3 days unless it was an unusual test that might take longer was called back, even then I called to tell them we got these test back but waiting on these. The problem these days is that the Dr.s no longer have say so they are ran by someone else and it has been QUANTITY over QUALITY. The more patients they see and push thru the more money they make. When in reality its the more patients they see and push thru the MORE MISTAKES they make.
this is just being honest. Follow thur with how you truly feel on this. But a letter is for sure a def you decide who to send it to.

More power to you and I am speaking from being a former nurse! I too have had to fire more than one doc. One was a neuro doc who told me never to come back & I said don't worry! I had yrs before being diagnosed and it was agony. Now I only see MS specialists and have much better care! good luck and love your assertiveness!
BTW, I switched to one of his colleagues, and she it was like night and day. He is night, and she is day. She is the one that gave me the referral. Thank God!
