You should call MS Lifelines 877-447-3243 and ask them about it the nurse told me to call if anything funny happend,, sounds like it might be vertigo. I was hoping you were going to do well on Rebif. Ok, I'll call them or maybe Curascript. They were real nice when I talked to them before and they have nurses and doctors on call 7 days a week too. I'm almost afraid to go to bed not knowing what tomorrow is going to bring! I thought if I were going to react it would have been quicker than that :(

It sounds like an allergic reaction:

Nervous system side effects have included headache (up to 70%), dizziness (up to 15%), hypertonia (up to 7%), seizures (up to 5%), abnormal coordination (up to 5%), migraine (up to 5%), sleep difficulty, muscle spasm, paresthesia, myasthenia, and extrapyramidal symptoms. Sudden hearing loss and tinnitus have been associated with interferon beta (the specific interferon beta was not identified in the case report). Ototoxic effects resolved 7 to 14 days after discontinuation of the drug. Transient neurological symptoms that may mimic multiple sclerosis exacerbations (i.e., hypoesthesia, muscle spasm, paresthesia, musculoskeletal stiffness, difficulty in walking) have been reported during postmarketing experience with Rebif (R).

If it was me, I would not touch another shot of this stuff for anything, but that is just me. I'd go to the ER if you get any more symptoms. I hope you did not hurt yourself when you took that fall!

Hi there...doing so so. Still dizzy but not as bad as I was yesterday. I called Curascript this morning and spoke to a nurse. She said dizziness as a side effect has been reported in about 15% of Rebif users but that severe dizziness can be a sign of an allergic reaction. Although I do not have any of the other signs of an allergic reaction. She told me to call my neurologist, which I did....but nobody has gotten back to me yet. I hope they call me back tomorrow because I'm supposed to do another injection tomorrow evening. If I don't hear from them by noon I'll call again. Thanks for asking how I'm doing :) Your support and concern means a lot.

Gee maybe I should take up a collection! (lol!). I had it right - 15% experience dizziness and it is indeed an allergic reaction!

Take care and like I said before, I'd dump this stuff if anything ever happens again! It is not worth the risk!
P.S. Figures about the neurologist - too "busy" to call back I suspect. *grr*

Just miss your doses till you talk to your neuro. Your ms is not going to change over night.
Many of us forget or just don't feel like doing it. So don't worry about it. Good luck.

Hang in there. If Rebif isn't for you, you DO have other options, so keep that in mind. I will say that I have had some MS friends tell me that the first 6 months to a year are the hardest because your body is adjusting to the drugs. Early on, I know I was always worried because I couldn't tell the difference between a new symptom and a drug reaction. It sucks, and in the process, had a darn panic attack! I feel for you and hope you got a hold of your doctor. Thank God for mine because he was able to talk me through the panic attack before walking through the hospital ER doors when I was out of state! The other recommendation I would make is to keep a detailed journal of EVERYTHING....... when/what you eat, when you take meds, and what meds you are taking, and any new or repeat side effects and feelings. Take the book with you to the neuro and it may come in handy trying to figure out what is going on.

I was wondering if your neuro got a hold of you? and what he had to say,I know last night was shot night for us, and if you took the shot and how you are feeling if you did. Last night for the first time my calves hurt, felt like they were being squeezed, I've had that before so I don't want to be to quick to blame on the rebif, I know that it woke me up, I just hate the variables of MS and its treatments.

Hi oleblue, I'm actually doing ok. My neuro said that dizziness is not common and that I need to drink lots and LOTS of water. So yesterday I drank so much water I swear I'm going to need gills to keep from drowning. BUT, I did the shot late yesterday afternoon and have been feeling pretty good.

Other than the dizziness (or more accurately - vertigo) I haven't had any side effects. Of course I'm still on the lowest does and will be for another week.

Sorry your calves hurt last night. I hope you're feeling better today :)

Hi Shellos, I know you've had a couple more shots by now and was wondering how they were treating you? I will be honest and tell you my first 44 shot did sting and make my stomach hurt a bit but it was really tolerable, I did my second tonight and it was in my thigh and no problems at all so far, no other side effects to report.

Hi there, I'm actually doing pretty good. Monday I start on the 22 shots. I've been drinking lots and lots of water and have had no other dizzy spells since after the first shot. Maybe that didn't have anything to do with the Rebif. I'm nervous about upping the dose though....hoping I don't react negatively. I guess I'll find out next week!

Ummm, ok. I did my first 22 shot tonight and that STUNG! lol I'm really really not looking forward to 44s! Now to keep my fingers crossed that I get thru this without side effects.
