i've been plagued for the past 5 years with vertigo that suddenly comes on and lingers for weeks. i can't walk from dizzyness and want to throw up constantly. it disappears as suddenly as it comes. i also have some other weird symptoms, but i can live with them. an mri shows dimyletation lesions. i have not been diagnosed with ms, but "probable ms." does anyone else deal with vertigo and what do you do?

OH< YES! Probably my #1 symptom. There is a medication called antivert that may help/ It did not me. Unfortuantely, you just have to avoid situations that cause it to get worse. (Easier said than done) Good Luck!

Uggghh. I hate vertigo. It has to be one of the worst symptoms, and mostly because so little can be done. I have some relief if I sit or lay perfectly still. I can't even move my eyes. Meds haven't really worked for me either, sometimes dramamine can help if it's very mild. I'm so sorry.- Jen

try vitamin E, works for me but I think it depnds alot on cenral or peripherial V-go

I have had veritgo as my first couple of symptoms, and antivert helped for me. THE worst symptom. How you find some relief. kim

I have RRMS with active lesions. I have dizzyness all the time, but the vertigo comes and goes. It has happened while I'm driving too which is the scariest. I don't take any meds, I've just been dealing with it. It is very powerful when it hits me and it just pulls me one way or another. Very scary.

The vertigo I experience comes in the form of motion sickness, so admittedly, it's not so terrible. I have found Peppermint to work wonderfully, and on really bad days, I take meclizine (sp?). I like the meclizine because unlike dramamine, it doesn't wipe me out to beddybedtime...

Altoids are the best because they are so strong! I try never to be without them... xo Cj (Cindyjo)

This is one of my worse symptoms and generally happens at any given moment...if I turn too quickly or trying to follow a video game with a lot of motion (my vertigo really goes haywire then) or I may just wake up and there it is...it stinks but I live with it...try to control with peppermint tea and anything herbal...i don't want to take any MORE drugs than the ONE I am already on and still debating about that one!!!!

The vertigo is horrible, every time I have a bad lapse with Vertigo, I end up in the ER. What does get rid of it, "for the time being" is i.v. solumedrol followed by taper dosages of prednisone. I hate those drugs, but they work wonders with the bodies immune system. Good luck

Yep too familiar. Dx'd w/ MS in April and so far the only real misery of it is the vertigo, WHICH has lessened significanly since I've been taking Rebif. (since July) In order to get around (so I don't end up landing on my tush), I use a cane...I don't care how many colors or how stylish, a cane makes you feel like you belong on a can of Planter's nuts. :o) I live for the day I can LOSE it! Until then, like Justin Timberlake sings, "I'm bringin' Sexy Back...." For now, just doin' it with a cane! ;o)

I have had vertigo for 15 yrs. Physical therapy helped me but the vertigo doesn't go away even when I lay down. It feels like the bed is moving. But, crazy as it sounds, I have adapted to it. It is just an annoyance now at times. But it doesn't stop me from doing most things.....I have given up walking the tight rope over Niagra Falls though ;)
