You can check with the park specifically, but thanks to the American Disability act, public places are suppose to be accessible. And while I haven't been there, if you ask the hotel for an accessible room, I'm sure they can accommodate you. I hope you have a great vacation when you get here.

If you are going to Disneyland in California, probably late spring to early summer. The hottest months are usually July and August. In general, September is a beautiful month to travel in the U.S., and prices can be cheaper. If you are going to Disney World in Florida, the most comfortable time of year is October to March or April. Hurricane season runs June to November. I can't tell you anything about the park itself, since it's been 30 years since I was there.

Most shopping centers have scooters or wheelchairs for your use at no cost. You can get an electrical outlet converter at your hardware store, and they are very inexpensive. All hotels have to be disabled access by law. If you call ahead, most hotels will have rooms specifically designed for disabled use, including step in showers and shower seats. If you need a specific piece of equipment (ie. wheelchair, etc.), you can rent them for a low price from a medical equipment store.

There are tons of places to go. There are many independent camp grounds, especially along the main highways. I'd recommend our national parks. If you are coming in the summer, the ones in the mountains, like Yellowstone, Rocky Mountain National Park, Yosemite, Grand Canyon National Park and Glacier National Park. Make sure you check ahead about camping in or near the parks, as they are most crowded in the summer, and there are fees to visit the park. I think the day use fee for RMNP was 8 bucks, but the camping fees are probably more. You'll definitely want to check the wheelchair accessibility. There are also tons of great state parks and national forests that have camping. Just choose the state you want to see, and google it. Colorado has some wonderful state parks and national forests that are accessible. You can travel to the mountains any time from late June to early September, but make sure you book ahead as it can be crowded. I highly recommend seeing America this way!

Medical care is freely available. Definitely look into insurance BEFORE you travel, because it is extremely expensive if you are uninsured. They will treat you quickly, insurance or not.

If you can bring a cooling vest with you. They have mobile chairs and you can usually go to a separate entrance to get on rides quicker . I hope you have a wonderful time!!!

Disney in California is lovely in January. Weather is cool and sunny. Kids are in school, so the parks are almost empty. They're all about handicap accessibility. Most hotels have specialized rooms. The 2 parks in CA are both nice in differrent ways. Wouldn't try do them both in 1 day.

We are going to Disneyworld in September, and looked into wheelchair and scooter rental while at the park. I tire easily, so we thought it would be a good idea to have something. At Disneyworld, they have complimentary wheelchairs to get you from the entrance to where they rent them. The wheelchairs are approx $10/day and the scooters were approx $50/day (can't remember exact prices). You might find better prices for renting a scooter at a medical suppy place once you arrive, or like someone else suggested, get an adapter for yours. And maybe Disneyland has different prices than Disneyworld... :o) I just know they aren't free like at the grocery stores :(

When you ask for a handicapp accessible room, make sure the bathroom is truly accessible. Typically a room will be considered handicap accessible, but really isn't. I've read horror stories about folks with wheelchairs that can't even get through the bathroom door! Or, the space between beds isn't sufficient enough for a wheelchair to roll between them. Just make sure the room really meets your specific requirements.

Disney is good about accommodating special needs from rooms, to chairs, to even places in line. I would just avoid the park from June-Aug. for heat and summer crowds if possible.

Disney is EXTREMELY HANDICAPPED FRIENDLY!!! Most definitely get yourself a scooter/wheelchair as there is far too much walking. Plus, when my brother was in a chair, we got to go up the exits on all the rides and buck the line!!! Ok, I know, not fair for the able bodied crowd, but MS is not fair on us either...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE DISNEY and they treated us extraordinairely well with my brother in the chair! You'll have so much fun!!

i'm glad to read that so many of you have had positive experiences at Disneyland. I've loved Disneyland since I was a kid and have gone probably a hundred times, but not since MS. i've been heart broken at the idea of going back in a chair or a scooter.

Faey, GO GO GO!!! YOU WILL LOVE IT JUST AS MUCH IF NOT MORE BECAUSE YOU WILL HAVE ENERGY WITH WHICH TO TOTALLY ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE!!

Sadly, my traveling dayz are done now that I have a farm, chickies, and puppups, but I have done my share... Probably my best trip was to Russia after Communism was no more... Honestly, I sooooo love to travel and have never let a little thing like the MonSter hold me back!!
