A couple of days ago, I made a post about hot flashes/pre-menopause. While I definitely think the flashes were in PART from hormone changes, a BIG factor I HADN'T taken into account was my switching anti-depressants (from Mirtzapine to Prozac).
My primary doctor made the switch for me in June, but I hadn't actually tried it until a week ago.
I think I made the change cold turkey bec I felt that the dose of mirtzapine was so small, and didn't seem to be doing much for me. . .three days of hellish hot flashes/sweats made me research it. . .Part of it may be a certain intolerance of the Prozac (night sweats, insomnia, irritability all are possible side-effects), but ALSO withdrawal from Mirtapine ALSO includes those same symptoms. . .
Lesson: even if your doctor doesn't instruct you to do so, always look into how to stop/start taking new meds.
(I have decided to stick with the mirtzapine in the end, it has always been great for helping me sleep!)
