I was diagnosed in february of this year and was put on Copaxone. I had my last MRI about a week ago and I have developed 6 new lesions and my doctor says the Copaxone is not doing it's job as it should. He wants me to switch to Rebif of Betaseron. Any experiences with either?

I've been on Rebif over 8 yrs. It works for me. Less side effects than Avonex. No new lesions in 12 yrs but have progressed.

I have been on Betaseron since Sept. 2012. I have already stopped it once due to the irrritation it caused to my skin. I did start it back at half the dose until my appt on Jan 29. I haven't had MRI since I have been on it so I really don't know if its working or not. Good luck.

You didn't say anything about Avonex. I have been on that since August and do not have side effects. I will find out this summer if it is working okay.

There is a pill form called BG-12 coming out in march or April. It looks very promising. My doctor has her prescription pad ready.

I was on betaseron but could no longer handle side effects.

I am on Tysabri now. Been taking it or 6 years it has kept me stable with no side effects except being tired after infusion. I am switching to BG-12 as soon as it is out.

Tried Betaseron shortly after beng diagnosed in 95 but had to quit after just a few doses due to side effects.
Went on Avonex in June 96. Got some side effects early on (mainly fatigue) but they soon went away. I no longer have any side effects. The injections are little more than a minor inconvience. More importantly I have remained stable with no attacks.
Will continue with Avonex as long as it continues to work.

I have been on rebif since dx in 2007. After 3 months I noticed a huge difference in my well being and continue to enjoy fairly good health.

I have had no side effects and my last mri showed that the lesions in my brain were inactive. I have no problems with fatigue.

Probably no one could tell me for sure that my current state is due to the rebif or whether I would have the same results without it! I also take Q10 enzyme and massive doses of Vit D, exercise every day and keep away from processed food.

I've been on Avonex for almost two years. I've had no new lesions. Minor side effects and only one injection a week. I definitely recommend it.
